Dermal Fillers for a Youthful Look

Dermal fillers can help a person appear more youthful and they cost a lot less than a traditional facelift. Fillers can be used to address a variety of cosmetic issues like wrinkles, lines, and hollows. The results can last for over a year. Filler can also be used to smooth wrinkles and fill up lines/creases in the patient’s skin. When it is applied to the area of concern, it makes aging skin look more youthful and rejuvenated. Dermal fillers are also used to plump and volumize the jawline, chin, lips, temples, and cheeks. Fillers can even be used to improve the appearance of aging hands.

Common Types of Dermal Fillers

The most common type of fillers to address cosmetic issues and signs of aging include:

  • Hyaluronic acid:  This chemical is naturally present in the connective tissue of a person’s skin and can be used to fill up wrinkles and fine lines.  This filler type can also be used to augment a person’s lips and give them more volume.  Examples of this are Restylane, Revanesse, and Juvederm.
  • Calcium hydroxylapatite: Radiesse is often used to restore volume in a person’s cheeks and jawline.  It works as a biostimulator, resulting in natural results and increased collagen production.  An example of this is Radiesse.
  • Sculptra:  Sculptra is Poly-L-Lactic-Acid. It is used to smooth fine lines and deep wrinkles.  It works as a biostimulator and addresses the underlying causes of aging by stimulating collagen production.

What to expect when getting dermal fillers

Getting dermal fillers is a straightforward process.  The provider will typically numb the site of injection with a numbing agent, then inject the filler into the areas of concern. The entire procedure usually takes less than an hour.  The patient may experience some soreness in the area for a couple of days, but that quickly resolves.  Luxe offers complimentary consultations to help patients decide if fillers are the answer for them.
